Special Initiatives

I come from a family with a long history of service to our communities. I have tried to live up to my family's traditions by speaking out for human rights around the world. As an Asian Canadian, I have promoted respect for others, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or religion.

When I was appointed to the Senate of Canada, I was given an opportunity to have a direct impact on public policies and legislation that impact the lives of Canadians. In this section, you will find some of the special projects I initiated, and the issues I championed as a Senator. In all of these activities, I have tried to bring people together from different cultures in an ongoing intercultural dialogue, to build better understanding between nations, and to advocate for the equality of all peoples.
